Nellie: A Life Worth Living Penumbra Films

At a small college in the Pacific Northwest a man struggles to get out of bed every morning. Because he always succeeds, the lives of hundreds of young men and women have been changed forever. Nellie is the dramatic true life story of John ‘Nellie’ Nelson and the sacrifices he makes to serve a group of young men and women. Nellie has to be lifted out of bed with a crane. He can’t do anything for himself. He has to be fed, dressed and taken to the bathroom with the help of someone else. And yet he is an assistant football coach at one of the most successful college football programs in the country. Nellie is an emotionally charged story of commitment, acceptance, and ultimately the community of love that has grown up around this one man. Once you’ve met Nellie - you’ll never forget him. It’s what love should be.
