Listen--What the Bible Says About Being a Good Listener Doug Phillips
The Bible has much to say about listening. It speaks to the necessity of listening. It tells us how we are to listen. It reminds us that blessings in our daily life, and the future of our eternal soul itself, are directly linked to our willingness to listen well. Children are deemed faithful when they listen to their parents. One of the reasons why Scripture is so emphatic about listening is that our entire faith, and the worldview which proceeds from it, is communicated through words. Ours is a word-based faith. Christ is the living Word. The Bible is the Word of God. God creates through the spoken word: “Let there be light, and there was light” (Genesis 1:3) Listening to words, listening to communication properly, is an integral part of our salvation: “Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). We must learn to listen! “Listen: What the Bible Says About Being a Good Listener,” Doug Phillips shares what the Bible says in regards to listening and its practical application for husbands and wives and for parents and children. He addresses the question: How can parents train their children to be better listeners - first to God, then to their parents?
